Football League Rules
Rule 01
General Rules
Matches are governed by UCAN Sports official football rules.
No offside rule applies in any UCAN Sports football league or tournament.
Referee's decision is final and must be respected at all times.
The goalkeeper must wear a jersey different from both teams for clear identification.
Kick-ins are used instead of throw-ins due to the small playing area. The ball must be placed on the line and kicked with the foot. No chipping or lifting of the ball is allowed while taking a kick-in.
All free kicks are direct and may result in a goal.
A shot taken from anywhere on the field is allowed and may result in a goal.
Center restart will take place after every goal.
Games will start strictly on time.
Teams arriving 10 minutes after the scheduled start time will automatically forfeit the match.
A minimum of 4 players is required to start a match.
Rule 02
Match Format
Match Duration: 2 halves of 25 minutes each
Half-Time: Short break as directed by the referee
League Matches: No extra time
Playoffs / Knockout Matches:
If the match ends in a tie, no extra time will be played
Match will go directly to penalties
3 penalties per team
If still tied, sudden death penalties will apply
Rule 03
Team Composition
5v5 Leagues / Tournaments:
Maximum squad size: 8 players
Players on field: 5 (including goalkeeper)
6v6 Leagues / Tournaments:
Maximum squad size: 9 players
Players on field: 6 (including goalkeeper)
7v7 Leagues / Tournaments:
Maximum squad size: 10 players
Players on field: 7 (including goalkeeper)
Rule 04
Substitution Rules
Substitutions are rolling.
A substitute may only enter the field once the outgoing player has completely exited.
No in-play substitutions are allowed.
Substitutions may only occur during:
Goal kicks
Ball out of play
Referee stoppage
Any violation may result in a free kick or disciplinary action.
Rule 05
Equipment & Attire
Shin guards are strongly recommended but not mandatory.
Footwear:
Studs, cleats, or astro-turf shoes are highly recommended
Regular sports shoes are not allowed
Players are responsible for their own football equipment, including:
Shin guards
Socks
Cleats
Goalkeeper gloves (if applicable)
Rule 06
Points System
Win: 3 points
Draw: 1 point each
Loss: 0 points
Forfeit win: 3 points awarded to the opposing team
Standings are decided by:
Points
Goal Difference
Goals Scored
Head-to-Head (if applicable)
Rule 07
Code of Conduct
All players must maintain sportsmanship and respect toward opponents, referees, and officials.
Verbal or physical abuse will result in immediate suspension.
Sledging, intimidation, and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
Players must accept the referee's decision without argument.
Any player found guilty of match-fixing or deliberate unfair play will be permanently banned from all UCAN Sports competitions.
Rule 08
Disciplinary Actions
Yellow Card:
2-minute suspension
Team plays one player down during this period
Two Yellow Cards:
Automatic Red Card
Red Card:
Player must leave the field and premises immediately
Team plays one player down for the remainder of the match
Severe Fouls / Misconduct:
May result in multi-match bans
Duration decided by UCAN Sports Management
Permanent Ban: For serious violations including violence, abuse, or match-fixing
UCAN Sports reserves the right to take disciplinary action as deemed appropriate.
Rule 09
Payments & Refunds
Full registration fees must be paid before the first match.
No refunds once the league has commenced.
The last day for refunds is 7 days before league start.
Teams failing to complete payments on time may be suspended or removed from the league.
Rule 10
Final Authority
UCAN Sports Management reserves the right to:
Amend rules if required
Resolve disputes
Take final decisions in unforeseen situations
All decisions by UCAN Sports Management are final and binding.

UCAN Sports is Mumbai's premier recreational football league platform. We organize football leagues across the city, providing players with the opportunity to compete in a well-structured and organized environment.
You can register for a league by visiting our Programs page, selecting your desired program, and completing the registration process. You can register as a team captain (with your own team) or as an individual player.
Fees vary depending on the program and league format. Please check the specific program details page for pricing information. We offer both team registration and individual player registration options.
Team composition depends on the league format: For 5v5 leagues, you need 5 players on field (including goalkeeper) with a maximum squad size of 8 players. For 6v6 leagues, 6 players on field with a maximum squad size of 9 players. For 7v7 leagues, 7 players on field with a maximum squad size of 10 players. A minimum of 4 players is required to start a match.
Yes! If you don't have a team, you can register as an individual player. Our administrators will assign you to a team with other individual players.
Matches are played at various football grounds and indoor turf venues across Mumbai. The specific venue for each match is listed in the fixture schedule.
You can view match schedules on the Schedule page, standings on the Standings page, and match results on the Results page. All are accessible from the main navigation menu.
Players are responsible for their own football equipment including shin guards (recommended), socks, and appropriate football footwear (studs, cleats, or astro-turf shoes are highly recommended — regular sports shoes are not allowed). Goalkeeper gloves are needed if you're playing as goalkeeper. Match balls will be provided by the league.
